MONTREAL – The federal government is investing $700,000 in a 2013 New Horizons project that aims to fight senior abuse.
The project was created by a University of Sherbrooke research centre, who will receive the federal funds.

The goal is to help Montreal police officers develop a streamlined approach when it comes to dealing with cases of senior abuse.
Montreal police have already partnered-up with local organizations to better serve the elderly community.

“The WHO seized our new model as an inspiring initiative for the future,” said Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre.
“Montreal is already making its mark on the world stage in the field of intervention for senior victims of mistreatment.”
