SASKATOON – A teenager who pleaded guilty in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy last year has been sentenced. The youth, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will spend just over 19 months in custody followed by almost 10 months of supervision.
He was given credit for some of the 224 days he has spent in custody since his arrest.
On Sept. 7, 20915, Dustin Ahenakew was found dead inside the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood home in the 300-block of Avenue Q South.
It was Saskatoon’s sixth homicide of 2015.

A 14-year-old boy was charged with numerous criminal code and firearm charges and in January, he pleaded guilty to 11 charges.
He was sentenced for criminal negligence causing death. The other 10 charges were stayed.
Police said the shooting was not random and the teen who pulled the trigger was known to Ahenakew.
