CALGARY – The MP for Calgary-Nosehill held a job fair in her riding Saturday in hopes of getting residents back to work.
MP Michelle Rempel, representatives from Service Alberta, Service Canada and the Calgary Distress Centre were on hand to provide guidance.
Breakout sessions for people looking to update their resume were also provided, as were workshops on how to build a LinkedIn profile.

A photographer was also available to take headshots for online job profiles.
Rempel told Global News that the event would be about giving Calgarians the tools they need to get back on track.
“This is really about putting together all of the services in one room for somebody who has perhaps not looked for a job in a while or just doesn’t know where to turn. It’s really about taking the mystery and, perhaps, some of the hesitation out of somebody who is preparing to go into a job search for the first time in a while or for somebody who’s just looking to freshen up their resume,” Rempel said.
“Losing your job or being about to lose your job is one of the most stressful experiences. We often find that people don’t know where to go to look for help,” Rempel added.

The job fair runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Foothills Alliance Church on Edgepark Boulevard in the northwest.
