An Alberta driver is sharing dashcam video of a dangerously close call on Highway 22 between Sundre and Caroline, Alta. in the hopes that it will remind people to pay attention on the road.
Ehret, who said he’s spent the last 15 or so years driving on Alberta highways while working in the oilfields, said Thursday morning’s encounter was nothing out of the ordinary.
“This is the fourth time this has happened that I’ve been pushed almost into the ditch,” he told Global News. “Incidents like this are so common that I bought the dashcam to protect myself for legal reasons.”

Ehret said he was driving south on Highway 22 Thursday at about 9:45 a.m. He saw a car beside a truck, coming down a hill in a stretch of highway with a double solid line beside a truck. The driver of the car was trying to pass the truck but couldn’t have seen Ehret coming because of the hill.
“I veered over for her to get by – it was pretty close.”
Ehret didn’t submit his video to police, and said no one was injured in the incident. He just hopes that people in the area will take notice, and the driver will think twice before her next road trip.
“All I care about it is her thinking a little bit more ahead the next time she’s in a hurry; that’s good enough for me.
“I don’t want to attack anybody, I’m sure she was just in a hurry and wasn’t meaning to harm anybody but wasn’t thinking of what could possibly happen.”
