Police say an extensive search found the Williams Lake resident. An experienced pilot, Exton crashed into a hillside nine kilometres northwest of Williams Lake while piloting a Cessna 185. He was the only person aboard.
Search and Rescue was notified of the absence shortly before 10 p.m., deployed from Comox and spotted the downed plane near the Fraser River northwest of Williams Lake before dark.
It is unclear what caused the crash. The investigation is ongoing and has been turned over to the BC Coroner’s Service.
