The STM reported it almost met its punctuality targets for both the bus and metro system.
The bad news is that ridership dropped by almost one per cent over the previous year.
STM officials attribute the drop to new transit services like BIXI and Uber, a poor overall economy and the low price of oil – something they said is encouraging people to drive.
The STM also announced there will be five new elevators installed in five Metro stations by 2020: Viau, Mont Royal, Snowdon, Rosemont, and Vendôme.
“It’s long overdue in my view,” said Evan Litwin, a commuter from Westmount.
“That elevator should have been built before the MUHC hospital opened.”
STM President Philippe Schnobb would not comment on what took the agency so long to put an elevator in Vendôme.
He said the work should be finished by 2019.
