MONTREAL — The borough of Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce has voted to allocate about $12 million to fix roads in the community.
According to city councillor Marvin Rotrand, the money comes from the central city budget, with about 17 per cent coming from the borough’s coffers.
“It’s a record for us,” he said.
“It’s more than double what we spent last year.”
Some of that money was reallocated from recreation funds in an effort to concentrate on a problem Rotrand said is considered a top priority.
The work will fix 10 per cent of the area’s roads.
Some of the worst: Victoria Ave., Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Ave. between Hingston Ave. and Harvard Ave., as well as Atherton Street, a pock-riddled area that lies to the west of the Town of Mount Royal.
The work is a welcome sign for NDG residents.
“The roads are terrible, there are potholes and potholes,” said Wilhemina Fredericks.
