Calgary homeless shelters facing record numbers

Some Calgary homeless facilities are reporting a record influx of people looking for shelter.

Officials with Inn from the Cold say they have more families coming in now, than in all of their fifteen-year history.

The facility has room for 96 people, and is currently over-capacity housing 104.

The Mustard Seed is also reporting the highest intake they’ve seen in years, currently housing 347 people, which is just 23 away from capacity.

Some suggest people are travelling to Calgary from all over Canada with hopes of finding work.

Inn from the Cold is working with local churches to house the extra people who have come to them in need of shelter.
