EDMONTON – A tense standoff in the Highlands neighbourhood has come to an end after nearly 11 hours.
Police were called to a home near 53 Street and 112 Avenue at around 10:30 am for a report of domestic violence.

When officers attempted to arrest a 32-year-old man on an outstanding warrant, he locked himself inside the home and refused to come out. Police spent much of the day negotiating with him.
The tactical unit was also called in.
He surrendered to police at around 9 pm and is now in custody.
Police say no one else was in the home at the time and there was no risk to the public.
Charges stemming from the domestic violence complaint are pending.
