Nova Scotia teacher facing sex assault charges over alleged incident with student

A junior-high teacher from Nova Scotia is facing sexual assault charges following an incident with a student that police say was reported in February.

Sarah Allt Harnish, 36, who teaches at Five Bridges Junior High School in Hubley has been charged by RCMP with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police say they were investigating after being notified on Feb.5  of an incident where a teacher had inappropriate contact with a student.

Harnish was released on conditions not to have contact with the alleged victim, not to have contact with anybody under the age of 16, and to stay away from places frequented by children.

She is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court on May 3.
