Manitoba Marathon draws thousands, Kenyan pair earns top spots

The 34 annual Manitoba Marathon took over the streets of Winnipeg Sunday.

The popular run wound its way through most of the city, starting and ending at the University of Manitoba. The nearly 13,000 runners had their choice of half or full marathon, relay, 10K, super run and mini mites races.

Thomas Omwenga won the full marathon with a time of 2:25:13. The Kenyan has run 20 marathons and thought the course Sunday was a good one.

Anna Kibor, also of Kenya, won the women’s title with a time of 2:49:45. The 38-year-old hadn’t run a marathon for two years.
