The EPS expert collision team was called in to investigate.

The collision happened in a crosswalk controlled by traffic lights, but police have not yet determined who had the right of way.

Investigators don’t believe speed or alcohol were factors, and charges weren’t laid against the 40-year-old driver during the initial hours after the collision.

Roads near the scene of the crash were blocked off for several hours. They have since been reopened.
