REGINA – A man who lives near Kenosee Lake had an unfortunate end to the weekend when his truck broke through the ice and sank in the lake.

The incident happened around 4:30 on Sunday afternoon. According the Carlyle RCMP, the man was going to pick up his son, who was ice fishing at the time.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle when it began to sink, and he managed to get out safely.

The RCMP said the truck sank about 150 feet from the shore. They urge caution on the ice because warm water running into the lake from a nearby slough is causing thin patches.

Police said an SGI dive team will eventually be called in to investigate the truck.
