Airdrie to host 2014 Alberta Summer Games

Young athletes from across the province will gather in Airdrie in 2014 for the Alberta Summer Games.

Athletes ranging in age from 11 to 17 will compete in summer sports such as basketball, swimming and beach volleyball.

More than 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials will take part in the event.

“It’s absolutely fantastic, we’re so looking forward to hosting all the athletes, coaches and fans that support this,” says Airdrie mayor Peter Brown. “Most importantly, we’re going to be able to show Albertans what a great place Airdrie is.”

The games are held every two years.

Lethbridge is hosting this year’s Summer Games for four days beginning July 26th.
