PENTICTON – As a new furry face becomes a regular at the Penticton RCMP detachment, kids around the country have the chance to name other puppies that could one day join the force.
Hannie, a 12-week-old German shepherd puppy, is currently in Penticton being raised by Corporal Brad Power.
Now it’s time to name the next generation of potential police pups. Thirteen German shepherd puppies, who will soon be born at the Police Dog Service Training Centre in Alberta, will all need names.

The force is inviting kids under the age of 14 to come up with names for dogs who could serve the force for years to come.
RCMP are asking children to be “original and imaginative in finding names that will serve these puppies well in their careers with Canada’s national police force.”
For more contest rules and to enter a name you can visit the RCMP website.
The contest closes in a few weeks. If you want to name a puppy make sure to get your submission in by March 22, 2016. Contest winning names will be chosen by staff at the Police Dog Service Training Centre and announced in April.
