The Rolling Stones officially announced Tuesday that they’ll be performing a free concert in Havana, Cuba on March 25.
Not only will it be the first time the iconic British rock group has played in the Caribbean, but it’s the first-ever open-air concert held in Cuba by a British band. (Nope, the Beatles never did it.)
The band is also leading a “musician-to-musician initiative,” where much-needed musical instruments and equipment are being donated by major suppliers for the benefit of Cuban musicians across all genres.

Donors include The Gibson Foundation, RS Berkeley, Pearl, Zildjian, Roland and BOSS, with additional assistance from the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation.
“We have performed in many special places during our long career, but this show in Havana is going to be a landmark event for us, and, we hope, for all our friends in Cuba too,” said the band in a statement on their website.
Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood are all expected to take part in the performance, called the “Concert for Amity.”

The concert has been in the planning stages for months, with the event announced only days after President Barack Obama’s confirmation that he will be making a historic visit to Cuba in March.
The entire event is being made possible by the benefaction of Fundashon Bon Intenshon, on behalf of the island of Curaçao.
