WINNIPEG — It’s not too often that young hockey fans get to meet their heroes, but the Goals and Dreams event gave kids that opportunity on Monday.
Two groups of kids from First Nation hockey programs had the chance to get autographs and perform some drills on the ice with a few Winnipeg Jets players.
“It’s the best feeling in the world, when you enter a room and see a kid’s face light up,” Winnipeg Jets’ Mark Scheifele said. “It definitely warms your heart and humbles you for sure.”
The kids also received brand new hockey gear courtesy of the NHLPA Goals and Dreams.
“Participating in sports allows you to create bonds that usually last a lifetime,” Mike Witoski with Kidsport said.
The organization believes that sports is something every kid should have the opportunity to participate in.
