Dozens of people turned out this morning to walk and run at Stanley Park to remember Larry.

Young was the team leader of the emergency response team when he was killed.

On February 2, 1987, Young died during a gun battle with a high-risk offender. He had come in on his day off.

Police say there’s always a concern an officer could be shot on the job.

The run is held by members of the Emergency Response Team, which supports a scholarship fund in Young’s memory.

The scholarships are given to students at David Thompson high school, where Young attended as a youth.
