WINNIPEG — A new mobile app developed in Winnipeg is hoping to get more shoppers to check out what our city has to offer.

The Local Frequency launched last week and already has 11 businesses signed up and over 300 users.

“We consulted around 100 local businesses and one of the things they were struggling with is visibility,” Tyler Ibrahim from Protegra said.

“We are hoping this gets more people keeping their money in Winnipeg.”

Once the user downloads the app and starts paying cash or debit at participating businesses, they get three per cent of what they spent back.

“It’s like local cash back,” Ibrahim said.

The Local Frequency is available on iOS and Android at no cost.
