MONTREAL – The annual Motorcycle Show kicks off this weekend at the Palais des congrès, with some big new exhibitors.
Motorcycle fans will fill the convention centre to check out all the new models – and of course, a few custom bikes.
This year, Purebreed Cycles is introducing its Brooklyn Project, a series of 40 custom café racers built off the BMW S1000R roadster.
It’s the brainchild of Quebec-based custom bike builder Guillaume Brochu, who has his own show on Historia.
The retro-styled bikes will have the same mechanical underpinnings, but the aesthetics of each one will be custom designed to meet the specifications of the owner.
Yamaha Riding Academy
Children aged 6 to 12 can test their riding skills with a free 15 minute session on an off-road mini-bike.
The environment is safe and controlled by instructors who will give lessons on riding and talk about the latest protective gear.
Eye Ride
Virtual reality is making its first appearance this year, where participants can wear specially designed goggles to experience the sights and sounds of riding.
There are on-road, off-road and race track options.
As opposed to 3D rendering software, this virtual reality system combines actual footage captured from eight GoPro cameras.
The Rolling Stones Collection
Making its debut in Montreal, Harley-Davidson is bringing out five of the nine custom bikes that pay tribute to the Rolling Stones.
The custom works of art are borrowed from a private collector in Quebec City.
The bikes’ artist spent a full year on the project to bring a unique character to each one.
The show features many more activities and presentations, including demonstrations and speeches.
The Salon Moto de Montréal will take place Feb. 26 to 28.
