Most of 2012 crop in the ground

Most of the 2012 crop is in the ground, according to the latest crop report. 

As of June 4th, Saskatchewan Agriculture says 91 per cent of the crop has been seeded. 

The five-year average for this time of year is 86 per cent.

Rain in some parts of the province in the last week has delayed some seeding operations. 

Topsoil moisture is currently rated as 16 per cent surplus, 83 per cent adequate and one per cent short. 

Most damage to crops at this stage is due to flooding and flea beetles are starting to cause some damage on canola crops. 

Recent high winds have made weed control operations difficult for producers.
