KELOWNA — A Kelowna man is now $21.9 million richer after winning the February 20 Lotto 6-49 draw.

After the win, Robert Goertzen told the B.C. Lottery Corporation he feels 21 is a special number for him.
“My lottery ticket package was $21 and I discovered I won $21.9 million on February 21,” said Goertzen in a BCLC press release.
Goertzen, 44, is a heavy equipment instructor and discovered his win at Superstore after checking his ticket.
“I felt famous. Everyone was coming up to me to congratulate me and to take a photo of me and the lottery screen,” he said.
Goertzen said he plans to continue working. As for how he’ll spend his winnings, he has some ideas.
“I’m going to buy a diesel truck and a new fifth wheel trailer for myself and a Jeep for my girlfriend and of course, I’ll pay off my debt. I also want to help my child with her future and provide the best education money can buy,” he said.
Being a lottery winner still seems surreal for Goertzen and he said he plans to continue his weekly routine of purchasing Lotto 6-49 tickets while grocery shopping.
“This win means freedom, to be free from debt and have the life I’ve always wanted,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Superstore on Baron Road in Kelowna.
