CALGARY- Police are investigating after an audacious smash and grab at a northwest bank early Sunday morning.
Officers were called to the Royal Bank at Beacon Hill Centre just before 4 a.m.
Investigators said the suspects took off with an ATM machine after smashing a front-end loader through the building, resulting in extensive damage.
A wall and part of the roof had collapsed.
Fire crews were called in to check whether the building is still structurally sound.
According to the owner of the front-end loader that was allegedly stolen to ram the building, he uses the machine for snow removal and parks it nearby.
How the suspect(s) managed to start the front-end loader is still unclear.
No word yet on any suspects.
