Celista shooting victim dies, suspect charged

A Celista man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a triple shooting in the Shuswap Sunday. Global Okanagan

CELISTA, B.C. – A 59-year-old Celista man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with the triple shooting in the Shuswap town Sunday.

RCMP say Richard Allen Williams was arrest Thursday and formally charged Friday with attempted murder, break and enter, wearing a disguise with intent, discharge a firearm with intent.

Police also say the shooting has turned into a murder investigation. A victim, an unidentified man of 50, has died in hospital.

RCMP say the Southeast District Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the man’s death.

The Salmon Arm Observer is reporting court documents identify only one victim, Clayton Hill.

Another victim was released from hospital, according to RCMP, who say he sufficiently recovered from his injuries.

Williams appeared in Kamloops Provincial Court Friday and remains in custody.

RCMP say all the parties involved in the shooting knew each other and that their investigation continues.
