Kelowna growth spurt tops Western Canada

KELOWNA–Kelowna has the highest population growth rate in Western Canada.

According to Stats Canada, the Okanagan city’s population grew by 3.1 per cent in 2014/2015.

Other Western Canadian cities also posted strong growth during the same period, including Calgary (+2.4 per cent), Edmonton (+2.4 per cent) and Saskatoon (+2.0 per cent).

In most Canadian cities, interprovincial migration was zero or negative in 2014/2015, but Kelowna also bucked that trend, posting the highest growth rate in Canada, at one per cent.
