1 person killed in early morning Anthony Henday crash

EDMONTON – One person was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash in west Edmonton. The collision happened on the Anthony Henday shortly after 2 a.m.

It was reported that a 58-year-old man was driving a 2014 silver Honda Civic north when the car struck a bridge support at 87 Avenue.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there was no one else in the vehicle.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision.

Police were expected to be on scene for several hours investigating. EPS Major Collision Investigation Unit continues to look into the crash.

This is Edmonton’s third traffic fatality of the year. Last year, city police recorded over 30 traffic fatalities in the city.
