CALGARY – Police have laid charges in the theft of over $1.5 million worth of items found in storage facilities throughout Calgary.
Among the stolen goods are a tanning bed and tanning supplies, artwork, video games, a used vehicle, clothing, new and used tires, snow blowers and a log splitter.
Investigators said a lot of the property was brand new and still in its original packaging, and likely taken from various retailers throughout the city.
“It is believed that half of the property was stolen over the span of roughly 18 months, with the remainder acquired through organized retail crime offenses,” said police in a Thursday news release.
Efforts are underway to return the recovered items to the property owners.
Cody William Scott, 28, is facing multiple counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
