SALMON ARM — Police say foul play is not suspected in the death of a 27-year-old Salmon Arm man after his body was found on school grounds Monday morning.
Salmon Arm RCMP responded to a report of a male down in the school field of Salmon Arm Secondary School around 7 a.m.
“Police attended and found a deceased 27-year-old local male. B.C. Coroner attended and subsequent investigation determined there was no indication of foul play,” said Cpl. Dan Moskaluk in a statement.
In a letter sent to families of students at Salmon Arm Secondary School, the principal said the body was found around 6 a.m. before students arrived to the school.
“Students arrived at school to discover numerous RCMP vehicles and officers and a yellow ribbon protecting the scene,” said principal Reid Findlay in a press release.
In the release, Findlay said the body was found below the school tennis courts near the field house.
“We do know that the deceased is not a current student and no foul play is suspected,” said Findlay.
Moskaluk says the deceased male’s family has been notified. The B.C. Coroner has has taken custody of the file.
