Yet another truck falls through the ice on Last Mountain Lake

A truck fell through the ice on Last Mountain Lake on Jan. 26. The male driver was able to exit the vehicle and walk to the shore.

Southey/Strasbourg RCMP is once again warning drivers to be careful when travelling on Last Mountain Lake after another truck got stuck on Monday.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, RCMP received a call from a man who was in a truck that went through the ice on the lake.
The man was able to exit the vehicle and walk to the shoreline, where he met emergency responders.
RCMP went to Last Mountain Lake Tuesday after a man called and said his truck went through the ice.

This is the fourth incident to happen in the area in the past two months.

Earlier this month, on Jan. 7, a vehicle broke the ice and fell in the lake near Rowan’s Ravine Provincial Park. That driver was able to walk to safety.
When they tried to drive off the lake, the truck broke through the ice and the passenger had to pull the driver from the truck.
A submerged truck is visible from the Last Mountain Lake shoreline. On Dec. 1, two fishermen escaped from the vehicle after it fell through the ice when they were driving off of the lake.

RCMP say because of a mild winter, the ice will be thick in some areas and thin in others. They are reminding the public to avoid driving over ice heaves.
