EDMONTON – The Edmonton Police Service is asking recently laid off workers to consider a career in policing.
“We know there are a lot of hard-working Albertans out there with a wide range of skill sets who have been affected by the current economic conditions,” Acting Sgt. Terry Mishio, EPS Recruit Selection Unit, said.

Alberta lost 19,600 jobs in 2015, Statistics Canada numbers showed, which is the largest number since 1982.
Last year, recruits joined Edmonton police from a variety of previous jobs like heavy equipment operators, plumbers, carpenters, salespeople, and financial analysts, Mishio said.
