There were only smiles on Saturday for a couple whose pet was dog-knapped in Kelowna but then returned after CHBC News aired the story about the stolen canine.
Wilma, a Pomeranian Maltese Cross, is a little timid and perhaps a bit traumatized after she was snatched from outside a Petro Canada on Friday morning.
Wilma’s owner had gone inside the gas station to grab a coffee and when he came back outside, the dog was gone.

CHBC News ran the story about Wilma and her distraught owners and late Friday afternoon, the animal was returned by someone who found her in Ben Lee Park in Rutland.
Those involved are crediting CHBC News with the happy ending.
“I got a call from my cashier about 45 minutes after the news aired and they said, ‘Wilma’s back’,” said gas station owner Terry Neuman, who had offered up a $200 reward for the stolen animal.
“I think it was a big part in getting her back so thank you very much,” said Ron Braun, Wilma’s owner.
“I’m thrilled to have Wilma back again. I couldn’t be happier. She’s the joy of my life,” said his wife Louise as she cuddled the dog.
The Brauns, who were vacationing in Kelowna, had vowed to stay until Wilma was returned. The couple left Saturday morning for Vancouver Island to enjoy, what they hope, is a restful, and perhaps less eventful, rest of their vacation.
