Thousands of barrels leak at Newfoundland oil refinery, spill contained

COME BY CHANCE, N.L. – Cleanup is underway at a Newfoundland and Labrador oil refinery after thousands of barrels of oil leaked from a holding tank.

Officials at the Come by Chance refinery say the spill was quickly contained and none of the oil entered the water.

The company says there is no threat to the environment and the oil will be reprocessed at the refinery.

Refinery officials are investigating the reason for the leak.
