A Manitoba RCMP officer was dragged by a woman’s vehicle after investigating a crash just east of Carberry, Manitoba.
Officers were called to the scene of the crash on Highway 1 on Wednesday morning.
The woman was arrested when officers found a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Her vehicle was towed for further investigation.
Once at the detachment, RCMP searched her vehicle for more evidence but didn’t find any. However, police found she didn’t have a valid driver’s licence and was released with a traffic ticket.

Officers then allowed the woman to charge her cell phone in her car while she waited for a friend to pick her up. During this time, RCMP discovered she had given them a false identity.
When the woman realized this, officers said she attempted to flee in the vehicle. An officer attempted to shut off her ignition, but was was dragged by the vehicle. The vehicle then drove into several snowbanks before stopping.
Two officers were able to subdue the woman and both received minor injuries.
Caley Elizabeth Steele, 27, of Lac du Bonnet faces several charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer.
Steele appeared in Brandon court on Thursday and remains in custody before her next court appearance.
