Bail hearing delayed for woman charged in deadly Highway 11 crash

Bail hearing delayed for Catherine McKay, charged with impaired driving causing death after a family of four was killed in a crash. File / Global News

SASKATOON – A woman charged with four counts of impaired driving causing death will remain behind bars for at least another month. The bail hearing for Catherine McKay, 49, has been delayed until Feb. 23.

McKay made a brief court appearance in Saskatoon on Wednesday by video from the Pine Grove Correctional Centre.

McKay is facing a total of 12 charges after a fatal collision on Highway 11 by Wanuskewin Road on Jan. 3.

Jordan Van de Vorst, 34, and his 33-year–old wife, Chanda, were declared dead at the scene. Their five-year-old daughter Kamryn and two-year-old son Miguire later died in hospital.

Members of the Van de Vorst family were in attendance for McKay’s court appearance.
