Gatineau police give all clear after bomb scare disrupts three college campuses

GATINEAU – A bomb scare Thursday morning affected three CEGEP campuses in Outaouais, disrupting classes for about an hour and resulted in the evacuation of between 3000 and 5000 students.

The Gatineau police confirmed that an unidentified man called 911 a few minutes before 8 a.m. using a public pay phone. He confirmed that a bomb had been put in one of the three colleges but did not specify which.

College authorities were alerted. The police ordered a general evacuation of classes at Louis-Reboul, Gabrielle-Roy and Félix-Leclerc campuses.

Classes resumed at Félix-Leclerc just before 9 a.m., and at Gabrielle-Roy et Louis-Reboul at 9:10 and 9:15 respectively.

Nothing unusual was found. The man who placed the call has not been identified and has not been linked to a group or a cause.

The evacuation of the three campuses caused some traffic problems.
