VAUGHAN, Ont. — Protesters chanted and pestered hunters outside a trophy hunting show in Vaughan Saturday.

Activists yelled “there’s no excuse for animal abuse” and questioned attendees about their interest in “killing for sport” at The Africa Show.

The event is taking place at the Premier Place Banquet Hall, its third venue after two other locations cancelled the show citing threats from animal activists.

“On Facebook pages, people are saying ‘We should hunt you, stuff you, stick you on the wall,’” said organizer Birgit Johnstone.

Outside the venue, hunter Paul Peca attempted to explain his love for the sport as protesters peppered him with questions and insults.

“[The show] is just basically saying that killing animals for no good reason is alright,” said activist Remington Latanville. “A lot of the ‘Big Five’ [African lions, elephants leopards, Cape Buffalo and Rhinoceros]  they’re hunting are already endangered species.”

“The only way they should be shot is with a camera,” another protester added.
