BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Set decorator Hamish Purdy of Vancouver has received a production design Oscar nomination for The Revenant.
Fellow Canadians Chris Duesterdiek and Cameron Waldbauer were also recognized for their work on the dark drama, which was partially shot in Alberta and British Columbia and picked up a leading 12 nominations.

Duesterdiek received a sound mixing nomination and Waldbauer is up for best visual effects.
Irish-Canadian author Emma Donoghue, London, Ont.-born Rachel McAdams and Toronto-native the Weeknd also picked up Oscar nominations.
Canadian co-productions Brooklyn and Room are also among the eight films in the best picture race.
Donoghue was nominated in the best adapted screenplay category, while McAdams is up for best supporting actress for her role in Spotlight.
The Weeknd had his song “Earned It,” from the film Fifty Shades of Grey, nominated for the best original song Oscar. Fellow Canadians Ahmad Balshe, Jason (Daheala) Quenneville and Stephan Moccio are also nominated alongside the chart-topping singer.
