WINNIPEG — An early morning house fire in the 100-block of Cathedral Ave. sent nine people to hospital.
Firefighters were called there after 2 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Winnipeg firefighters union tweeted there were children inside the home when crews were dispatched but by the time they got there everyone was outside.
The nine people taken to hospital were all in stable condition.
The firefighters’ union also tweeted the fire started in the basement. But it spread to all levels and an aerial ladder was used to extinguish it.
A witness at the scene told Global News the temperature was close to -40 with wind chill at the time and that the home appeared to be a total loss.
