Lark Voorhies posts a strange photo and caption to her Instagram account. Instagram

Former TV star Lark Voorhies, who played the wealthy character Lisa Turtle on the much-beloved Saved by the Bell, is turning heads online with a bizarre Instagram photo and caption.

Under the photo, she wrote the caption, “No, I am not black. I am American! I was born in America. I was not born in Africa, therefore I am not african. Africans are not african-americans! LV”

When people responded to her “I am not black” comment on Twitter (Voorhies is of African-American descent), Voorhies’ reply was even more confusing.

Voorhies has reportedly had struggles with mental illness in the past. Her mother, Tricia Holloway, said to People magazine in 2012 that Voorhies suffers from bipolar disorder, but Voorhies vehemently denies it. She claims that any strange behaviour she exhibits is due to depression she suffered after her first marriage fell apart. She recently filed for divorce from her third husband; the marriage lasted six months.

This Entertainment Tonight video from 2012, below, was the first footage of Voorhies to cause concern among her family members and friends.
