WINNIPEG — Fire crews spent a portion of their morning battling smoke and flames in the city’s Maples area.
Around 6 a.m. Monday, crews were called to the home on Hiddleston Crescent near Jefferson Avenue. The MIRV was called to the scene, along with police and several fire crews.

Winnipeg police and fire remain on scene at this time and a large area around the home remains blocked off at this time.
No word on injuries or the cause of the blaze. North and southbound Jefferson is blocked by Hiddleston Crescent due to the blaze.
