Newcomers group shares Canadian traditions with refugees

EDMONTON – After a week of light, fluffy snow, conditions are perfect to teach new immigrants and refugees to Edmonton about a long-held Canadian tradition – tobogganing.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers has been collecting toboggans for families who may never have seen snow before moving to Edmonton.

The Centre took the newcomers and their sleds out to the hill in Mill Woods Park on Saturday afternoon.
