Well, the Webby Awards were recently announced – the Web’s version of the the Oscars – and the travel site Kayak.com won the award for “best travel site.”
So I thought I would look at some cool sites that I like for finding the perfect hotel!
Backbid.com allows rival hotels to bid for your reservation. Just book a refundable reservation at a hotel and forward the email with your confirmed hotel reservation to the site. BackBid will then share with you any counter-offers rival hotels may make, such as a comparable room at a lower rate.

Next, Hipmunk.com – which was also one of the Webby nominees – runs a search and allows a traveler to name a category they are interested in such as nightlife or shopping and the site will filter its listings to only display hotels in neighborhoods with an especially high number of relevant venues, such as bars, boutiques, and museums.
Hotelsweep.com, lists more than 50,000 hotels, motels, B&Bs, and guesthouses. The great thing about this site is it includes mom-and-pop properties-places that generally aim to attract budget-conscious travelers, but are too small to afford the costs of being listed with bigger hotel sites.
On the other hand if you are only looking for those well known chains to be sure you know exactly what you’re getting, there is a site for you too. Roomkey.com only lists U.S.-owned chain hotels like Best Western, Hilton, Hyatt, InterContinental, Marriott, and more.
Finally, Room 77 dot com lets you sort hotel rooms by amenities. Simply type in the city, and check off what you are looking for. Options include everything from free wi-fi and fitness centers to pet friendly properties.
So next time you are booking a hotel, check these websites out to help narrow down your options.
Happy Travels!
