Drone pilots beware the drone-capturing drone

Police officers in Tokyo have come up with an answer to any drones flying in restricted airspace: another drone.

Tokyo police officers recently showed off the drone which uses a net to capture other drones, according to NTV.

Japanese officials are taking the technological threat seriously. Yasuo Yamamoto, 40, was arrested in April after piloting one of the flying devices onto the roof of the Prime Minister’s residence while he was out of the country.

A special drone squad has been established within the police force to avoid any repeats of that scenario in the future.

The strategy is expected to be put in practice in time for the G7 Summit in the spring.
