Rome’s Christmas tree lights turned off in Paris tribute

France’s ambassador to Italy on Sunday turned off the Christmas tree lights in Rome‘s Piazza Venezia to mark one month since the Paris attacks.

The lights in the central square, just a stone’s throw from the Colosseum, went dark as Ambassador Catherine Colonna and Rome’s extraordinary commissioner Francesco Paolo Tronca led a ceremony paying tribute to those who lost their lives last month.

The tree was then lit back up with the colours of the French and Italian national flags.
