BUCHAREST, Romania – Authorities say a psychologist who was burned in a Bucharest nightclub fire has succumbed to her injuries, bringing the death toll to 61.

The health ministry says 36-year-old Ioana Raluca Panculescu died Sunday in a German hospital where she was being treated for severe burns.

The ministry said Monday that 22 people remain hospitalized in Bucharest, with another 22 being treated in hospitals in Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Israel and Germany.

The blaze erupted during a heavy metal concert at the Colectiv nightclub on Oct. 30. Fire sparked by a pyrotechnics show sent panicked people stampeding to the club’s single exit.

The initial death toll of 26 has risen as victims died due to complications caused by burns and the inhalation of toxic gases.
