Golden Globe nominees react adorably to their first-ever nominations

It’s one thing to be nominated for a Golden Globe, but it’s quite another to be nominated for the very first time.

This year’s Golden Globe nominees include plenty of first-timers, and they were all understandably thrilled to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Pop singer Lady Gaga was nominated for American Horror Story: Hotel, in which she vamps up the proceedings as The Countess. It turns out her sashays and sultry monologues paid off, big time. It seems that no matter how many music awards an artist gets, it’s something else entirely to be nominated for an acting award.

Funnywoman Amy Schumer was also nominated for her first Globe, for her comedy performance in Trainwreck. It’s been a huge year for the comedian, whose TV show, Inside Amy Schumer, has garnered both critical and audience praise. Naturally, she posted something funny to her Twitter:

Star Trek star Sir Patrick Stewart, who often posts hilarious tweets and photos, didn’t disappoint when he discovered he was nominated for Blunt Talk, in which he plays a British expat who settles in L.A. with the goal of conquering the world of American cable news. This is his third Golden Globe nomination. He posted from what looks to be a vacation locale, complete with brightly coloured drink:

New show Mr. Robot – a highly acclaimed thriller right out of the gate — and lead actor Rami Malek both got nominations, and Malek was happy yet characteristically restrained:

Veteran actor Mark Ruffalo (who’s been nominated before — twice, last year) was also humbled by his nomination for Best Actor in Infinitely Polar Bear:

His first reaction was noticeably less measured (but more endearing):

Since the Golden Globe nominations were announced at 5 a.m. PT, many nominated celebrities may not even be aware they’ve gotten a nod yet. That would be wonderful news to wake up to.
