30 guns seized from home of accused in Edson triple homicide

RCMP provided an update Monday on the investigation into the deaths of three people found in a home near Edson, Alta. on Nov. 29.

On Friday, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed all three people – 46-year-old Daniel Miller, 36-year-old Roxanne Berube, and 16-year-old Jazmine Lyon – were victims of homicide.

Police also said they found dozens of guns at the home where suspect Mickell Clayton Bailey, 19, was staying when they executed a search warrant.

Over 30 guns were seized during the Dec. 3 search, some of which were loaded. Police also seized illegal rifle magazines, ammunition, body armour and some stolen property.

When police attempted to arrest Bailey, he was armed, officers said. The suspect was shot and taken to hospital in serious condition.

Bailey has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Berube and Lyon, and one count of second-degree murder in the death of Miller.

RCMP said additional charges are pending.

Bailey’s first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in Edson.
