Scott Weiland, the former frontman for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, died Thursday night at age 48 while on tour with his band, Scott Weiland and the Wildabouts.
The singer’s manager, Tom Vitorino, said Weiland, who was dogged by substance abuse problems throughout his career, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota. The local coroner confirmed the death Friday, and sources now say Weiland died from cardiac arrest.
Toronto rock station 102.1 The Edge was the last outlet to have an on-camera interview with Weiland, mere hours before his last performance on Dec. 1, 2015. He died two days after the interview. The concert took place at Adelaide Hall in downtown Toronto.
In the interview, Weiland reveals the first concert he ever went to, the impact the Beatles had on his life, his tattoos, and the last time he saw his wife. Despite the video being a straight-up Q&A against a white background, there is something definitively heartbreaking about it.
