TORONTO — Police say a non-human heart found outside a building at Ryerson University was part of a student’s school project and not related to any criminal act .
Const. Victor Kwong said the organ was found Wednesday morning by a groundskeeper cleaning up garbage. He says it appears the heart fell out of a garbage bag.

Kwong said the heart is too large to belong to a human “unless it’s a giant.”
“We called the coroner to come and do the inspection, while we were waiting for the coroner to arrive we heard from a student who claimed responsibility for it,” he said.
“It’s actually not malicious at all, it was part of a project, a school project.”
Kwong said police would continue to investigate the incident.
