RCMP investigate report of gun pointed at Alberta teen walking to school

RCMP are asking for the public’s help after a 14-year-old boy described having a gun pulled on him while walking to school in Spruce Grove.

It happened in a back alley off Winchester Avenue on Tuesday morning. The boy told police a passenger in a dark pickup truck pointed a gun at him and demanded he hand over some items. The boy did not hand anything over and ran away to safety.

He described the passenger as a white man, wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt and a mask which looked to be home-made. He also had a deep voice.
There is no description of the driver.

The truck is described as an older model, small, black Dodge with rust on the wheel wells. It had a loud muffler which was hanging from the back and made a crackling sound.

RCMP offered this advice to parents:

· Advise children not to talk to strangers;
· Remind children that if they are approached by a stranger to tell a teacher or adult;
· If possible, ensure your child is not walking to/from school alone;
· Remind your child to be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times.
